"On Tuesday
night, 4th October 2011, Abdul-Ahad Yasin was tragically killed in an
automotive collision on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. He was only 25 years old.
Abdul-Ahad
is survived by his parents, two younger brothers, and a younger sister. Both of
his younger brothers are memorizers of Quran: Hafiz Talha Yasin and Hafiz Saad
Yasin. Masha Allah, he was around blessed family members, and may God make his
ends blessed.
Abdul-Ahad was the first cousin of Shaykh Husain Sattar (may God
protect him and sanctify his secret). He was a good man. He spent time in the
company of righteous people
His sudden passing comes as a complete surprise,
as death often does. It utterly defies expectation further insofar as his
father had just been recovering from a long, debilitating bout with throat
cancer. He had reconstructive surgery on his face, and for a while, many had
become convinced that he would not be able to survive the cancer. But, all
praise to God, he did. And now, I witnessed this heart-broken man weeping at the
bedside of his 25-year old son, whom he never imagined he would survive. Such
is life, and such are the vagaries of time--the mysteries of the Divine
Plan--and His constant testing of us. It seems He is relentless in breaking our
wills--until that point when we finally understand that there is no will
besides His. There is only the Will of God. Nothing else.
As our spiritual
forefather Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (God be well pleased with him!!) put it:
"al-'ajzu 'an idrakihi idrakuhu" ... which means, in rough
translation: "Incomprehension of Him is comprehension of
Him.
Initially, I did not
intend on exposing his good acts, but then realized the world could learn a
thing or two about what it means to be selfless for
the sake of Allah through his example and when it came to serving the community
at any capacity.
For Abdul Ahad, to serve
Allah, meant to serve His slaves (community); to beautify and keep the house of
Allah clean at all times; to lay his limbs and heart out in honor of all those
who came to the House of Allah to establish a spiritual bond."
Make du’a for him.
Give Sadaqah on his behalf. May Allah enlighten his grave and give him Jannatul
Firdaus...Ameen.
